Synopsis
Taking Root is an experimental play about desert landscapes and cactus plants. It’s a work that shifts between multiple narratives, primarily a queer romance between a botanist researcher and a Palestinian sociologist in Haifa. The stories and threads vary in expression, span deep history, and extend geographically. All explore, subvert and speculate on contexts of migration and displacement. The play is a weaving of imagination and politics from human and non-human perspectives.
